A Few VMworld 2012 Sessions I Hope to Catch

I could probably write for days about all of the sessions at VMworld I want to attend and why.  One thing to note about VMworld is that if you attend, you’ll have access to all of the sessions later on in the year.  This means that I typically try to hit up the sessions where I may have questions for the presenter or looking to network with people of similar interests.  I think that last part is important.  You may be able to get the content from home but unless your social media savvy you may be hard pressed to find a congregation of people interested in the same information that you are seeking.  This is the power of VMworld.  That being said here are a few sessions I’m hoping to attend and gain from:

Become a Rock Star with PowerCLI and vCenter Orchestrator
VSP1856 - 8/27 4pm

I’m really excited about this session.  I’ve known the speaker all of my life.  Definitely hoping the audience gets value out of this session. :)

Architecting a Cloud Infrastructure
VSP1168 - 8/27 10:30am or 8/30 12:00pm

I’m definitely interested in the views of these excellent presenters/panelists with respect to infrastructure design.  The main point that got my attention was the statement about sizing and scaling.  One thing I have learned during my time at Cisco is that thinking scale is often very challenging.

Automating Bare Metal to the Cloud and Beyond
VSP2448 - 8/28 12:00pm

I have seen a preview of much of this session at CiscoLive and through conversations with the speakers.  I’m really excited to see the work that Jake Robinson has contributed.  The scripts that Alan and Eric have producing have been huge!

PowerCLI Best Practices: The Return
VSP1329 -8/28 3pm or 8/29 8am

Last year’s session taught me several valuable pieces on PowerCLI and I’m hoping for even more this year!  Not sure which one I’ll attend but should be a great session.

VMware vSphere 5 Design Discussions
VSP1475 - 8/28 12PM or 8/30 10:30am

The book was excellent and a huge resource for planning for VCAP-DCD.  I’ll be upgrading this fall and pursuing my VCDX.  This session should provide a great deal of valuable information

Automating Security and Compliance with Disaster Recovery using VCM, vCOps, vShield, VIN and SRM
INF-SEC1282 - 8/28 3:30pm

In truth I’m just seriously curious about this one.

There are a TON of interesting sessions but unfortunately it’s impossible to attend them all.  I’m going to try to squeeze in some others as the week progresses but I see many hours logging into VMworld.com to listen in to the sessions I missed.
